The Blue Zeus Story
When a wild stallion and his family are captured from Wyoming's Red Desert by the US Government, Clare Staples must fight a broken bureaucratic system in an attempt to rescue them from a shockingly inhumane and inherently corrupt system.
Blue Zeus is an incredibly special horse to Clare and Skydog. For years she had followed and admired photographs of this stunning Wyoming stallion and regularly commented on photos of him. For Clare, as long as Blue Zeus was wild and free with his family there was something to fight towards. Keeping them free and together was Clare’s “North Star” and holy grail so it came as a horrible shock to find out in summer of 2020 that his herd was slated for roundup. This film details Clare’s journey as she aims to free this majestic being and the unexpected twists, turns, and unexpected realizations along the way.

Blue Zeus was filmed by an award-winning camera team and cut by renowned editor Chris Alstrin, resulting in a feature that explores various key players and opinions in the horse community as Clare aims to set her North Star free.

SKYDOG SANCTUARY is a forever home for wild mustangs and burros who have ended up in horrible and dangerous situations - at kill pens, at auctions, or in unloving homes where they have often been starved and neglected. We are also home to several wild horse families that we have reunited after being separated during roundups. SKYDOG has two locations in Malibu California as well as our 9,000-acre ranch near Bend, Oregon which is a huge piece of wild land most our mustangs call home.

A Skydog Story
Wild horses Goliath and Red Lady reunite after being separated by a BLM roundup. After being apart for six months they see each other for the first time at Skydog Sanctuary and shortly afterwards have a final foal together.
